Netflix is gearing up for an exciting September lineup, highlighted by the much-anticipated return of Wednesday Season 2, Part 2, featuring a special appearance by Lady Gaga. In addition to this, viewers can look forward to the debut of a new series centered on the Guinness family legacy, a fresh show titled Wayward from Toronto native Mae Martin, and a documentary exploring the life of Charlie Sheen. However, as new content arrives, Canadian subscribers will also see the departure of some beloved titles.
Beloved Titles Departing Netflix
As September unfolds, Canadians will bid farewell to several hit series, including the fan-favorites Prison Break and The Good Place, alongside Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Movie enthusiasts will also be disappointed to see classic films like the 1996 adaptation of Matilda, Sandra Bullock’s 2000 comedy Miss Congeniality, and the beloved Fried Green Tomatoes exit the platform. Additionally, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Tina Fey’s Mean Girls (2004), and the iconic Dirty Dancing, featuring Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze, will also no longer be available. Fans of One Piece and RuPaul’s Drag Race will find various related content leaving the streaming service as well.

aka Charlie Sheen — Sept. 10
This two-part documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, delves into the Hollywood actor’s rise to fame and the tabloid frenzy surrounding his life. Directed by Andrew Renzi, Sheen reveals his personal journey after seven years of sobriety, providing insights into his past struggles. Renzi emphasizes the importance of listening to individuals with challenging experiences, stating, "A guy like him has a lot to offer the world with that story."
Black Rabbit — Sept. 18
World-premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Sept. 7, the film Black Rabbit, featuring Jude Law and Jason Bateman, will make its way to Netflix later in the month. Set in New York City, it follows Jake Friedken (Law), who owns the popular Black Rabbit restaurant, as he becomes embroiled in his brother Vince’s (Bateman) unexpected troubles.
Wayward — Sept. 25
Also debuting at TIFF, the thriller series Wayward, crafted by Canadian talent Mae Martin, is set in Tall Pines, home to a school for troubled teens. The plot follows Alex Dempsey (Martin) and his pregnant wife Laura (Gadon) as they relocate to the area, leading Alex to suspect the school’s head, Evelyn (Toni Collette), of being involved in a series of bizarre occurrences.
House of Guinness — Sept. 25
The upcoming series House of Guinness explores the legacy of the Guinness family in 19th-century Dublin and New York. The narrative unfolds after the passing of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the founder of the successful brewery, revealing the effects of his death and will on his four children. The cast includes Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Emily Fairn, Fionn O’Shea, James Norton, and Dervla Kirwan.
